T U N E L

Desde que llegué a Roma y transité éste túnel, supe que tenía que usarlo como locación para algún look. Así que aquí está… ¿No es magnífico? Hay algo en la perspectiva y su luminosidad que me encanta. Me transmite una sensación medio futurista. 

El look de hoy es muy casual pero con un toque de color para hacerlo más divertido… Ni más ni menos que de la mano de un poco de naranja… un color que sin dudas me viene gustando hace un montón de tiempo (ver acá, acá, acá, acá y acá si no me creen). Al principio pensé que me interesaba más como una tendencia pasajera, pero ahora pienso que es un color que se instaló en mis gustos y cuando entro a una tienda y veo ropa o accesorios de éste color me pongo contenta. No sólo me gusta en la ropa, también me encanta en  maquillaje en su versión "coral", sobre todo en verano.

Ever since I got to Rome and walked through this tunnel I just knew I had to use it as a location for one of my outfit posts. So, here it is. Isn´t it amazing? There´s something about the lighting and its perspective that fascinates me. It gives me some kind of a futuristic feel. 

Todays outfit is very casual but with a pop of color to make it more fun… And, of course, that is my good friend orange, a color that without a doubt I´ve been in love with for a while now (check here, here, here, here and here if you don´t believe me). At first I thought I was only drawn to it temporarily like it tends to happen with many other trends, but now I think it´s more of a staple of mine, a color I´ve added to my personal taste. So much so, that when I walk into a store and see items in this color I get all happy and excited. And it doesn´t finish with clothing, I actually love it on beauty items as well… especially in the coral hue, which I love to wear during summer on my lips, nails and cheeks.

La semana pasada me escapé 3 días a Barcelona. Considerando que el clima cambió considerablemente en Bruselas, poco imaginé que me encontraría con una temperatura de 25º y sol todos los días. Fue una verdadera bendición... Tiempo en familia, comida rica y playa. No se puede pedir mucho más que eso para ser feliz. 

Éste fue uno de mis looks con pelo de playa y todo. Para éste tipo de días, y en general durante el verano, me encanta usar blanco. Tanto es así que me la pasé buscando vestidos en éste color, pero no triunfé. Recién sobre las últimas semanas de las rebajas encontré ésta musculosa de hilo en Benetton y me dije “ésta tendrá que ser la prenda blanca de éste verano!“.

Por otro lado aproveché y pasé por Kiko, una marca de makeup que me encanta, y compré algunos productos de maquillaje para mí, así como también algunos para el futuro sorteo que estaré haciendo por los 2 años del blog! Estén atentas, falta poco!

Last week I planned a last minute getaway and ran off to Barcelona for 3 days. Considering it´s been colder and cloudier in Brussels NEVER would I have imagined that I would enjoy sunny, 25º days. It was a true blessing... family time, good food and some beach time. Any better recipe than this to experience true happiness?

This is what I wore to the beach one day. For beautiful summery days like that one I love wearing white. So much so that I spent quite some time looking for pretty white dresses before the season was over, but I didn´t succeed. However, a couple of weeks ago, I managed to find this cute knit top at Benetton and just told myself “this will have to be the white item for the season“.

COUCHER DE SOLEIL

Algo que me gusta mucho de Bruselas, al menos durante ésta época del año que me toca estar acá, es lo largo que es el día... El atardecer se hace desear y aparece recién alrededor de las 9pm. Me recuerda a mis vacaciones de cuando era chiquita... Con mi papá y mi hermana ibamos a El Bolsón a visitar a mi abuelo Willy, que vivía en una casa elevada en las laderas del Cerro Piltriquitrón. Ahí disfrutábamos semanas de días interminables, llenos de aventuras, recolección de frutas, paseos en gomón, pan casero, caminos de tierra, Willy tocando el piano, ferias artesanales, perros -y cachorritos!- de montaña , helados de Jauja y juegos de mesa, que casi siempre culminaban con unos atardeceres multicolores, cortesía del sol mientras se escondía tras los cerros. :) 

Éstas fotos fueron tomadas en el balcón de nuestro deptito. Un look muy media estación... Para esos dias que arrancan fresquitos y terminan cálidos.

Something that I really like about Brussels is how long the days are... of course during this time of the year, given it´s summer. The sunset takes its time to appear and it only does it as of 9pm onwards. For some reason, it reminds me of my summer holidays from when I was a little girl. With my dad and sister we´d go to El Bolson, a very unique and lovely small town in the south of argentina, next to the Andes Mountains. There lived Elwin, or like we called him Willy, my grandpa. I have the best memories of summer weeks spent there, where long days were enjoyed by going on adventures, collecting fresh fruits, eating home made bread, going on boat rides, driving on unpaved roads, Willy playing piano, visiting artisan markets, playing with mountain dogs -and puppies!-, having Jauja Ice Cream and playing family board games. Everyday would end with multicoloured sunsets, courtesy of the sun showing off its magic as it made its way behind the mountains. :)

These pictures I´m sharing today were shot at our small apartment´s balcony. A very mid-season like outfit... For those days that start off a bit chilly and make way to a warmer afternoon.

ATOMIUM

Hoy les traigo unas fotos muy especiales que fueron tomadas delante de un fondo único: El Atomium, uno de los emblemas turísticos de Bruselas. Construido en 1958 para una convención internacional, conocida como Expo58, se convirtió en un monumento imposible de no visitar si se viene a Bélgica. 

Además de que, arquitectónicamene hablando, es impresionante, el Atomium es hoy en día un museo que alberga exhibiciones temporales y otras permanentes así como también un mirador para observar la ciudad de Bruselas en 360° a 92mts de altura. Cool, no? 

Todavía no subí... pero no faltará oportunidad de hacerlo. :)

El look de hoy lleva como pieza central un vestido estampado que ya les mostré durante el verano, en un outfit más veraniego. Algo muy gracioso me pasó con este vestido y  es que es mucho más largo de lo que pensé que sería... Como lo compré por internet, al momento de elegirlo, pensaba que era un vestidito que me quedaría ni muy corto ni muy largo, lo imaginaba del largo perfecto. Más no tuve en cuenta que la modelo tenía patas de 2 mts de largo. Con lo cual, cuando llegó, me llevé una LARGA sorpresa jajaja. De todos modos me sigue pareciendo muy lindo y lo uso. 

¿Les pasó alguna vez de comprar por internet y llevarse una sorpresa así?

Today I´m sharing some very special photos, taken at a unique and very touristy spot in Brussels: The Atomium. Built in 1958 for an important convention, known as Expo58, it then evolved into a must-see monument when visiting Belgium. 

Despite the fact that it´s amazing just by its infrastructure and architecture, the Atomium also functions as a museum with both temporary and permanent exhibits AND you can also go up 92mts high on the highest sphere and check out the view of Brussels in 360°. Cool, huh? I haven´t done that yet, but I´ll get to it soon.

Today´s outfit revolves around this cute printed dress that I´ve already worn here, on a more summery ensemble. There´s a funny story to this dress... When I got it I thought it´d be much shorter than what it actually turned out to be. Given that I bought it online I never considered that the model had extremely long legs -compared to mine- and by the time I got it I was shocked with its length. LOL. However, I still like it and continue to wear it.

Sigo con los posts de Bariloche!

Cuando empecé a armar la valija, me puse a revisar mi placard y a desenterrar toda la ropa de abrigo que llevaba ahí guardada hace tiempo. Entonces fue que encontré el saco que ven en las fotos de hoy. Lo compré hace unos 4 años en la única travesía que realicé a la calle Avellaneda, en Flores, que se destaca por vender de TODO a muy buenos precios y por ser el mayor proveedor de lo que encontramos en los negocios de Avenida Sta Fé y/o Cabildo.

Recuerdo que compré más que nada sweaters y como prenda más “jugada” este saco. Me cautivó por su trama, estilo “op art” que automáticamente me traslada virtualmente a los sesentas, una década de la cual me confieso fanática. Muchos elementos estéticos de esa época me encantan y me alegra que se vean reinterpretados en propuestas modernas.

Volviendo a la historia de la valija, cuando encontré el saco, supe que tenía que llevarlo a mis vacaciones! Es lindo, cómodo y definitivamente original. Como en sí el saco ya tiene bastante información quise combinarlo con prendas más básicas y, como es costumbre, un lindo maquillaje.

Hey there! I´m still posting pics from my vacation in Bariloche!

When I started packing, I dug into my closet to unbury all of the chunky winter pieces that had been there for a long time. It was then that I bumped into the groovy coat that you´re seeing on today´s photos. I bought it like 4 years ago in the neighborhood of Flores, a place in Buenos Aires where you can buy very cheap clothes.

I remember that on the same day I also bought a few sweaters but the most special piece was definitely this op-art inspired coat, which instantly takes me back to the sixties, a decade which i´m a big fan of. I love many of the aesthetic elements of that time so I get very excited when I see them appear through newer and more modern versions in fashion and décor.

Going back to me packing, when I found this coat I knew I had to take it with me... I love it because it´s cute, comfortable and definitely unique. Given that the coat itself had a lot going on, I chose to pair it with basic pieces and of course a pretty makeup!

Durante mi visita a Bariloche, además de descansar y deleitarme con las delicias del lugar, decidí contrarestar toda esa holgazanería con un poco de ejercicio. Con Gui nos prendimos en algunas excursiones para activar un poco y disfrutar de los paisajes increíbles que el sur tiene para ofrecer. El día que tomé estas fotos nos tomamos un catamarán que nos llevó a conocer parte de la Isla Victoria y luego al Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes, donde se pueden observar estos árboles tan particulares y bonitos de tronco anaranjado y ramificación múltiple. 

Para el outfit del día quería estar cómoda y calentita, por ende, este look fue perfecto: pantalones negros 100% elastizados, remera M/L negra, maxi sweater rosa viejo y unas botitas bien cómodas. La cartera la van a ver en todos los posts de bariloche porque, de las dos que llevé, fue la que me resultó más cómoda para todos los días. 

El ítem protagonista de este look es claramente el maxi sweater, una prenda que se aleja de lo que suelo usar y que justamente por eso me gusta. Es perfecto para el frío y su forma me parece súper interesante. Para hacer que no se vea tan holgado, se puede usar una camperita de cuero encima y para agregarle un poco más de color al look, se podría jugar con unas calzas estampadas.

Espero que les guste el look y sobre todo, el paisaje! :)

During my vacation at Bariloche I did more than just rest and eat, I also wanted to match up all that laziness with a little activity. Together with Gui, we planned a few excursions and hikes in order to do a bit of exercise and also enjoy the beautiful and breathtaking landscapes the south of Argentina is famous for. 

The day we took these outfit photos, we went on a boat across the Nahuel Huapi lake and visited first Isla Victoria and later that day the National Park Los Arrayanes, famous for being a large area where these pretty orange-trunk trees can be found. 

I wanted to be comfy and warm; hence, this look was perfect: black stretchy pants, long sleeve tee, blush colored maxi sweater and a pair of comfortable boots. As to the bag, you´ll see it in every post I share from Bariloche... I actually took two bags, but this little one turned out to be the most convenient for everyday use.

  

The main item of this look is clearly the maxi sweater, which has a very original shape. A key piece for cold weather, it keeps most of your body warm and cozy. If you wish to make your figure look slightly slimmer you can add a leather jacket on top, which will reduce its volume. Also, to add a bit of color to the look, a pair of printed tights will do the trick. 

I hope you like this outfit but, above all, enjoy the beautiful scenery behind me. :)

SIMPLE

Para fin de año viajé por 3 días 500km hacia el suroeste de la provincia de Buenos Aires donde mi familia paterna tiene campo... Destino: El Charito una pequeña estancia llena de magia donde pasé muchas vacaciones de pequeña. Ivonne (o Bonky como le decía yo), mi tía abuela, siempre nos esperaba con los brazos abiertos y hacía de nuestra estadía algo especial. Nos deleitaba con sus cookies caseras, nos encantaba con sus historias de campo y nos entretenía en los momentos de aburrimiento enseñándonos a bordar y jugar al crocket.  

El motivo del viaje esta vez fue muy insólito... mi prima segunda se casaba ahí! Y digo insólito porque ella nació y se crió en francia, por ende no era un simple viajecito de 4 horas sino toda una movida tanto para ella como para sus parientes y amigos que se trasladaron desde allá para compartir este momento tan importante. 

Como la casa estaba llena de franceses, nosotros nos instalamos en un pueblito cercano, lugar donde saqué estas fotos. 

Un look muy tranqui, pero lleno de detalles bonitos!

Back in December I went away, 500km southwest within the province of Buenos Aires, to spend New Year’s and also attend my second cousins wedding. The place where the wedding was held is a small ranch called "El Charito" where my great-aunt Ivonne used to live. This was one of the places where I´d go to during summer break when I was a kid… I have the nicest memories of my days spent there. Ivonne (or Bonky how I nicknamed her) would delight us with her homemade cookies, enchant us with her countryside stories and entertain us when boredom was inevitable, by teaching us how to embroider and to play croquet. 

My cousins’ wedding was actually quite a shocker... not because she was getting married, but actually because she is French, as in living in France!! And she decided to celebrate it here in Argentina... So imagine a bunch of french friends and relatives invading El Charito. It was definitely something special, unique and beautiful!

Given the house was full, my dad, grandma and I stayed at a hotel in a small town nearby, where we shot these pictures. 

A very simple outfit, but full of nice details!
