BLUE POP

Uno de los colores que está pisando fuerte durante otoño/invierno es el azul klein… Un  tono de azul sin dudas bastante intenso y que me gusta mucho. En mi opinión creo que hay dos formas de llevarlo: 

• En prendas grandes como sweaters holgados o abrigos, así como también en vestidos estructurados  o de formas abstractas. De esa forma el azul es la pieza central del conjunto. 
• Otra forma de usarlo y de un modo un poco más convencional, es incorporarlo mediante accesorios para levantar un outfit, como hice hoy con esta pashmina. 

Hablando de pashminas, da la sensación que Italia es el lugar indicado para comprarlas. Cuando estuve en éste país por primera vez, de mochilera con una amiga allá por abril 2007, recuerdo perfectamente que me compré una blanca en Firenze. Era de una calidad increíble y la usé muchísimo hasta que se la regalé a mamá o se la adueñó, jaja no recuerdo exactamente ;).

  

La pashmina de hoy la compré en el mercado dominical de Via Portuense. Una experiencia imperdible si se visita Roma… Al mejor estilo feria, se ubican incontables puestos provisorios a lo largo de esa calle todos los domingos desde las 8:00 am hasta las 2:00 pm aprox. Se puede encontrar de todo para todos… Carteras, zapatos, productos de belleza y cuidado personal, DVDs, camperas de cuero, comida, ropa ultra barata, pañuelos y más! Lo mejor es recorrerla toda y regatear todos los precios. Si pagás el precio que te dicen, no estás haciendo las cosas bien. Yo soy bastante mala con ese tipo de negociaciones, pero creo que de a poco se va mejorando y puedo decir que al menos logré que me bajen hasta €4 un ítem. Voy a tratar de hacer un post o video en especial sobre este mercado, ya que creo que es algo interesante de compartir. Lo único malo es que siempre trabajo los domingos… Tal vez antes de irme de Roma tenga algún domingo libre. Veremos!

One of the colors that´s definitely making a statement this fall is klein blue… A very intense hue that I like very much. In my opinion I think there´s 2 good ways of wearing this color:

• In chunky pieces like sweaters or coats, or in structured dresses of bold shapes. That way the key to the outfit is the blue statement piece.
• Another way of wearing it and blending it in with your style in a more conventional fashion is by wearing accessories to add a pop of color to an outfit, like I did today with the scarf I have on. 

Talking about scarves, it seems that Italy is the right place to buy them. 
When I was here for the first time, back in April 2007 while backpacking with a friend, I remember perfectly well that I got a white one in Firenze. Its quality was very nice and I used it a lot up until I gave it to my mom or she decided to keep it, LOL i don´t really remember. ;)

The blue scarf I´m wearing today I got it at the sunday open market that´s held at Via Portuense. If you come to Rome I suggest you don´t miss out on the experience of going there. It opens every Sunday from 8:00am until 2:00pm and you can find pretty much anything over there… Shoes, bags, leather goods, food, cheap clothes, DVDs, beauty products and more! The best thing is to go around for a little bit first and then start buying stuff… And when you do make sure you bargain and get a lower price… They always tell you a higher price, knowing they´ll let it go for less. I´m not an expert at these kind of negotiations, but I feel pretty proud to say I got an item as much as €4 cheaper… I´ll try and do a separate post on this whole market experience, I think it´s an interesting thing to share. The only bad thing is that given I normally work on Sundays I don´t think I´ll have time to do it right now.. Maybe right before I leave. We´ll see!

La semana pasada me escapé 3 días a Barcelona. Considerando que el clima cambió considerablemente en Bruselas, poco imaginé que me encontraría con una temperatura de 25º y sol todos los días. Fue una verdadera bendición... Tiempo en familia, comida rica y playa. No se puede pedir mucho más que eso para ser feliz. 

Éste fue uno de mis looks con pelo de playa y todo. Para éste tipo de días, y en general durante el verano, me encanta usar blanco. Tanto es así que me la pasé buscando vestidos en éste color, pero no triunfé. Recién sobre las últimas semanas de las rebajas encontré ésta musculosa de hilo en Benetton y me dije “ésta tendrá que ser la prenda blanca de éste verano!“.

Por otro lado aproveché y pasé por Kiko, una marca de makeup que me encanta, y compré algunos productos de maquillaje para mí, así como también algunos para el futuro sorteo que estaré haciendo por los 2 años del blog! Estén atentas, falta poco!

Last week I planned a last minute getaway and ran off to Barcelona for 3 days. Considering it´s been colder and cloudier in Brussels NEVER would I have imagined that I would enjoy sunny, 25º days. It was a true blessing... family time, good food and some beach time. Any better recipe than this to experience true happiness?

This is what I wore to the beach one day. For beautiful summery days like that one I love wearing white. So much so that I spent quite some time looking for pretty white dresses before the season was over, but I didn´t succeed. However, a couple of weeks ago, I managed to find this cute knit top at Benetton and just told myself “this will have to be the white item for the season“.

Hace unos días Sorina, una chica que conocí acá en Bruselas, me preguntó sobre cómo se originan las tendencias. No entendía de dónde salía que un color, estampado, y/o textura se impusiera soberanamente sobre otros y sobresaliera más que nunca antes e invadiese de pronto el mercado. A lo que le comenté que entre los más grandes de la moda suele haber un consenso, acordado con mucha antelación sobre qué se va a usar en una determinada temporada, que incluye colores, texturas, siluetas, formas, etc. Claro está que cada maison después adapta el código conforme a su estructura, respetando su eje de diseño, su cliente, su calidad, etc. Luego, una vez que los grandes marcan el camino, empieza el efecto catarata, donde las tendencias que se postulan como más fuertes o populares empiezan a ser interpretadas por otras marcas, que de a poco le van bajando calidad, diseño y lo vuelven un producto masivo.

Tal es el caso de los buzos con estampa de animales… que empezó con Givenchy y sus Rottweilers y siguió con Kenzo y el buzo del tigre, o la parodia de las camisetas de diseñador como la de Celine, por nombrar algunos de los casos más emblemáticos.

Durante el último año he visto por todos lados a los felinos como grandes protagonistas… no sólo en buzos sino también bordados en zapatos, en simpáticos estampados y delineando accesorios.

Si bien soy más un dog-person me encantó ésta tendencia y me sumé con la compra de éste buzo. Como siempre, adaptándolo a mi estilo, clásico pero con un toque de color!

A few days ago Sorina, a girl I met here in Brussels, asked me about how fashion trends are originated. She didn´t comprehend how come some colors, textures and shapes stand out all at the same time, interpreted by different brands. So, I told her that, to my understanding, the big fashion houses agree on a certain code that will determine a certain season and that this is done way in advance. Then, once its decided, every maison adapts this to their own criteria, following the house´s guidelines, design structure, quality, and meeting customer expectations. Once the big names start to trace and show an aesthetic path, there are trends that stand out and become specially popular which of course is detected by the global market and that´s how those trends start making their way down to the mainstream clothing stores, compromising, of course quality and design, but giving you what you want.

Such was the case of the animal sweatshirts… they started with Givenchy´s Rottweiler, but continued with Kenzo´s tiger and why not with the fake design t-shirts like the Celine one, to just name a few of the main examples.

During the last year or so I´ve seen felines invade the fashion market… not only in sweatshirts, but also in shoes, on cute prints and shaping accessories.

While I´m more of a dog person I really liked this trend and decided to join by getting this sweatshirt I´m wearing today. Of course I had to adapt it to my own style, by keeping it classic and adding a pop of color!

BLEU CIEL

Casi al mismo tiempo que llegó a Buenos Aires una inusual ola de calor, llegó también una a Bruselas. En este caso, lamentablemente, de frío. Antes de venir, allá por Junio, me informé un poco sobre cómo sería el clima y supuestamente iba a estar muy nublado y oscilando entre los 15° y 25°... Lo cual me parecía un poco fresco para verano, pero supuse que estaría bien. Para mi -grata- sorpresa, resultó ser un verano más soleado y cálido de lo que imaginé. Pero pareciera que esa etapa gloriosa ya se fue. Y volvió la onda belga, hecha y derecha... ergo NUBES. POR TODOS LADOS.

No tengo nada en contra del invierno, pero la verdad es que no lo prefiero! 

Entonces... Siendo que llegó el frío, me di cuenta que de abrigo no traje casi nada, así que fui al H&M que me queda cerca en busca de alternativas para pelear esta ola... Encontré una mesa con un modelo de sweater muy simpático... agarré el marrón, me lo probé, me gustó pero recordé que había de otros colores y me dije "por qué el marrón, tan predecible?". Volví, iba a agarrar el rosa viejo (un color que está MUY PRESENTE en las nuevas propuestas del invierno) y ahí lo ví: EL CELESTE. Hace muuuuchos años que no compraba algo de este color. Y la verdad es que dudé, pero con ésta nueva actitud de probar nuevas prendas, colores y diferentes combinaciones, resultó perfecto para mi experimento. Además, es muy cómodo y calentito. ^_^

Almost by the same time that a heat wave struck my beloved city of Buenos Aires, Brussels was also hit by one... only that in this case, unfortunately, it was a cold front. 

Right before coming to Belgium, back in June, I checked out what summer was going to be like, so I could pack accordingly. And apparently it´d be mostly cloudy with temperatures between 15º and 25º (celsius)... which felt like a bit chilly for summer, but it wasn't bad at all... the good thing was that it actually turned out much warmer than expected, which of course I enjoyed a lot. But now that it looks like summer is over, typical belgian weather is back, meaning clouds ALL THE TIME, EVERYWHERE. 

It's not like I hate winter, but I certainly don't prefer it over any other season. 

So... I realized I had absolutely no warm clothes, hence I run down to my closest H&M store to pick up some sweaters to fight off this cold. I found a very cute brown sweater, tried it on and liked it. BUT it felt like the color was too winter-obvious. So, I went back to the table where I first found it and decided to get a different one. I thought about the blush-pink one, but then I saw it: the light blue one. It's been aaaages since I bought something in this color and I really doubted. But, now that I'm trying to change things up a little, using different colors and new styles, it was perfect for my experiment. Plus its comfy and warm.  ^_^

PLAID SIMPLE

Hoy les traigo un look con una camisa de mi novio que desde que la vi, me cautivó por su escocés.
Vino un día y me dijo "mirá lo que encontré, seguro que la querés", a lo cual asentí y también comprobé que 5 años de novia no vienen solos y después de todo ya sabe lo que me gusta. :) 
Para que no quede muy masculino el look, lo combiné con accesorios que aportaran un poco más de femineidad. Para esto usé un cinturón, una cartera tipo sobre, aritos y un lindo makeup!

On today´s look I´m wearing one of my boyfriend´s shirts, which I´ve loved ever since I set eyes on it... especially beacuse of its plaid fabric.

He just came one day and said "look what I just found, I´m sure you want it", and he was right, of course I wanted it! That proves that after being together for 5 years, he knows me after all and understands what I like.

To make this outfit girly enough I paired it with different accesories to get that softer feel. A belt, a  hot red clutch, earrings and a cute makeup!

PIED DE ROCKER

En el post de hoy les traingo un outfit medio rockerito, digo medio porque full-rocker no sería con taquitos no? ;) 

La estrella del look es esta falda con tablas y de tela estampada en pied de poule rojo y negro. Como estampado, es sin lugar a dudas uno de mis favoritos. Me gusta hace muchos años y siempre me remite a dos claras imágenes...
Por un lado a la de Gwen Stefani, cantante que admiro -además de por su música- por su  estilo... Ella patentó este print con su onda SKA.

Por otro lado me hace acordar a Alexander McQueen y a esa colección de invierno 2009 en donde usó el pied de poule como uno de sus estandartes textiles, en un despliegue de creatividad y maestría de diseño. We miss you McQueen :(

Espero que les guste mi adaptación urbana de esta tela que, sin dudas, seguirá pisando fuerte en el escenario de la moda.

Durante mi visita a Bariloche, además de descansar y deleitarme con las delicias del lugar, decidí contrarestar toda esa holgazanería con un poco de ejercicio. Con Gui nos prendimos en algunas excursiones para activar un poco y disfrutar de los paisajes increíbles que el sur tiene para ofrecer. El día que tomé estas fotos nos tomamos un catamarán que nos llevó a conocer parte de la Isla Victoria y luego al Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes, donde se pueden observar estos árboles tan particulares y bonitos de tronco anaranjado y ramificación múltiple. 

Para el outfit del día quería estar cómoda y calentita, por ende, este look fue perfecto: pantalones negros 100% elastizados, remera M/L negra, maxi sweater rosa viejo y unas botitas bien cómodas. La cartera la van a ver en todos los posts de bariloche porque, de las dos que llevé, fue la que me resultó más cómoda para todos los días. 

El ítem protagonista de este look es claramente el maxi sweater, una prenda que se aleja de lo que suelo usar y que justamente por eso me gusta. Es perfecto para el frío y su forma me parece súper interesante. Para hacer que no se vea tan holgado, se puede usar una camperita de cuero encima y para agregarle un poco más de color al look, se podría jugar con unas calzas estampadas.

Espero que les guste el look y sobre todo, el paisaje! :)

During my vacation at Bariloche I did more than just rest and eat, I also wanted to match up all that laziness with a little activity. Together with Gui, we planned a few excursions and hikes in order to do a bit of exercise and also enjoy the beautiful and breathtaking landscapes the south of Argentina is famous for. 

The day we took these outfit photos, we went on a boat across the Nahuel Huapi lake and visited first Isla Victoria and later that day the National Park Los Arrayanes, famous for being a large area where these pretty orange-trunk trees can be found. 

I wanted to be comfy and warm; hence, this look was perfect: black stretchy pants, long sleeve tee, blush colored maxi sweater and a pair of comfortable boots. As to the bag, you´ll see it in every post I share from Bariloche... I actually took two bags, but this little one turned out to be the most convenient for everyday use.

  

The main item of this look is clearly the maxi sweater, which has a very original shape. A key piece for cold weather, it keeps most of your body warm and cozy. If you wish to make your figure look slightly slimmer you can add a leather jacket on top, which will reduce its volume. Also, to add a bit of color to the look, a pair of printed tights will do the trick. 

I hope you like this outfit but, above all, enjoy the beautiful scenery behind me. :)
