Una de las cosas que pasa cuando una cambia de look drásticamente es que de pronto los colores que usamos varían. No es que los de antes no te gustan, es que se generan nuevas ideas y combinaciones y de pronto notás que ciertos colores se ven mejor que nunca cuando te mirás en el espejo. 
Este es el caso del azul marino ahora que soy blonda. Es un color clásico que siempre me gustó, de hecho era mi favorito cuando era niña, y lo he usado muchísimo, pero ahora lo veo con ojos diferentes, recurrentes. ;) 
Fue así que con este nuevo amor por el azul me reencontré con ésta falda de topitos, o lunares, que compré hace un par de años en Gap. Me encanta. Es súper femenina, delicada y cómoda. Y aunque es más de verano, con medias va súper bien.

 ¿Les pasó algo similar luego de un cambio de look?

One of the things that tend to happen when you change your look drastically is that suddenly you start wearing different colors. It´s not that you no longer like your good old faves, but the truth is that new pairings arrise and you notice that certain colors look amazingly well, like never before.
This is what happened to me with navy blue since I´m a blonde. It´s definitely one of those classic colors ( which btw was my favorite when I was a little girl) that I´ve worn  many times, but that I see through different eyes now. Hence, I gravitate to it frequently. 
It´s thanks to this rekindled love with blue that I came accross this cute polka dot skirt that I got at Gap a couple of years ago. I love it! It´s femenine, delicate and super comfy. And, although it´s more of a summer piece, I love how it looks on layered with tights.

Hola a todos!

¿Cómo los trata el verano? A mi me tiene bastante ocupada...  Pero muy pronto ya estaré con tiempo libre para traerles nuevos videos y looks! :)

Hace poco, revolviendo mi ropa, encontré esta falda verde que me hice hace algunos años. A pesar de estar un poquito arrugada, es un excelente comodín para el verano. Tiene un largo perfecto y lo que me encanta es que no es apretada, por ende es cómoda y no se me sube. Tengo varias faldas tubo de algodón, algunas estampadas, otras lisas, todas ellas son al cuerpo y las uso poco porque al cabo de caminar una cuadra se me suben ridículamente. ¿No les pasa? Es un bajón... Asique me avoqué a pasarme al bando de las faldas que tienen más vuelo y por ahora con éxito! Se los recomiendo...

Hi everyone!

How´ve you been lately? I´ve been very busy at work... But soon I´ll have more free time to share some more outfits and make up videos with you! :)

A few days ago going thru my clothes I found this green pencil skirt that I made myself a few year ago. Despite the fact that its a little wrinkled its a great summer staple. The length is juts right and what I love the most about it is that it doesn´t go up as I walk. I have many tight n´ stretchy skirts that are super cute, but I end up not wearing them just because I hate to pull them down every other block when I walk. Does this happen to you? It sucks... So I decided to jump over to the flowy skirt team and for now it´s been a quite successful change. Highly recommended! :)

RUBY WOO

A ver... ¿Quién reconoce este setting? 

¿No les suena familiar ese fondo? Para que no se rompan la cabeza pensando, les voy a decir directamente a donde me encuentro... En el patio de Debbie! :) Hace poco nos juntamos para hacer un video de maquillaje juntas, que dentro de poco compartiremos con ustedes, y aprovechamos para hacer unas fotos. No había modo que desperdiciemos semejante producción facial.

Uno de los looks de maquillaje que mas me gusta es aquel que resalta los labios. Un buen bold lip tiene un elemento glamouroso, elegante y femenino que me recuerda a las divas del cine de otras épocas (de hecho este look está inspirado en Marilyn Monroe - tutorial coming soon). Es importante que la boca esté bien delineada y no se corra el labial, no sea cosa que parezca que estamos sangrando o quedemos cual payaso. Como toda la atención ya está en los labios, el resto del makeup es más sencillo: en los ojos aplicamos un poco de sombra clarita perlada y delineamos para definir la mirada.

Let´s see... Does anybody recognize this setting?

Doesn´t it look familiar? Just so you don´t have to overthink it, i´ll tell you right away... it´s Debbie´s backyard! We met a few days ago to film a beauty video together and so we took advantage and shot some blog pics! There was no way I was gonna let all that production go to waste! 

Anyways...Some of my favorite makeup looks are those where the lips stand out. Bold lips have a very glamourous element. They look elegant and feminine and it reminds me of hollywood divas from the past. Actually, this look was inspired by Marilyn Monroe. It´s highly important to use lip liner and draw the shape of the mouth corrrectly, also make sure the lipstick doesn´t bleed... you don´t want to end up looking like a clown! Given that the lips are quite dramatic, the rest of the makeup is very simple: a bright frosty eyeshadow on the lids and some gel eyeliner to define a little.

Hay días en los que me gusta ir bien libre y fresca. Y como no puedo ir al trabajo en pijama, es en esas ocasiones que me encanta usar un maxi vestido. Una opción distendida y femenina. Para ir un poco más discreta al trabajo (y protegerme del aire acondicionado) me puse mi -ya súper conocida- camisita de jean. Un outfit sencillo, pero que funciona. Y ustedes...

Some days I just want to feel comfortable and fresh. Given I can´t show up to work in my PJ´s I usually go for a trustworthy maxidress. I think they make me look girly and laidback. However, to remain decent enough to show up to work (and protect myself from the AC´s cold front) I added my cute demin shirt. The result: a very simple yet nice outfit.

Que el clima en Buenos Aires ha estado cilcotímico últimamente  ya no es novedad. A pesar de que esas subas y bajas de temperatura vuelven loca a mi garganta, mi lado fashionista se contenta con la posibilidad de ir un poco más abrigada y desempolvar ciertas prendas que han estado desplazadas. 

Unos pantalones negros son un must en el guardarropas de toda mujer... Son un comodín que se puede adaptar a muchas ocasiones, desde un look ultra profesional,  hasta algo bien casual y distendido. En mi caso, siempre trato de poner un poco de color y textura en mis atuendos y así salir de lo predecible. En el caso de hoy, un slight neon y un sweater de polka dots. ¿Qué opinan?

It´s old news that the weather in Buenos Aires has been crazy. These abrupt climate changes keep messing up my throat´s health... however, the fashionista inside me gets quite excited because I get the chance to wear warmer clothes and use pieces that have been kept away for a while.
A pair of black pants is a must in every womans´ closet... You can dress them up or down, depending on the etiquette the occasion requires: from professional to casual. When using such classic pieces, I try to add a little bit of color and texture so as to fall out of the expected pairing.  For today´s look I paired my black skinny pants with a slightly-neon yellow tee and a super cute polka dot cardi. What do you think?

A VECES LLUEVE...

Es cierto que la lluvia no le agrada a mucha gente. Complica el transito, moja los pies, da sueño y ganas de quedarse en casa viendo películas, tomando sopa y comiendo chocolate. Pero también refresca, hace que las plantas y los árboles se vean más verdes y da la sensación que revitaliza al mundo. A mí me gusta la lluvia. El ruido que hace cuando cae sobre el techo me tranquiliza y adormece, casi como una canción de cuna. 

Anyways...

Justo antes de irme de USA me compré una buclera. Fiel a la contradicción típica de las mujeres en cuanto al pelo, siendo que el mío es súper lacio siempre deseé tener pelo ondulado o con rulos.  Pero las pocas veces que intenté hacerme rulos siempre terminaban desapareciendo al cabo de media hora. Viendo un par de tutorials en Youtube me di cuenta que lo que estaba necesitando era un producto que los fijara en su lugar. Y lo logré! Con el uso del mousse Luxurious Volume de John Frieda ahí se quedan por horas! :) 

Qué experimentos han hecho con su pelo?

Qué me puse? camisa de jean  y falda negra de Forever 21, sweater marrón y medias negras de H&M, botas de gamuza de Aldo, aros + collar piña H&M, vincha-collar Macy´s.

It´s true that a lot of people don´t like rain. It complicates traffic, wets your feet, makes you sleepy and inspires you to wish you could stay home watching movies, eating soup and dishing on yummy chocolate bars. But It also freshens the air, makes plants and trees look greener and to me it feels like it revitalizes everything. I happen to like rain. I love the noise it makes when it hits the roof… it soothes and relaxes my senses, almost like a lullaby.

Anyways…

Right before I left the US I bought a curling iron. Us women happen to be ridiculously obsessed with having the hair that we weren´t born with. So in my case, given that I have fine and straight hair i´ve always craved wavy big hair. But the few times I gave it a try, the curls would disappear in as little as 30 minutes. But recently, after watching a few tutorials on Youtube I realized that all I was missing was a good product to fix those curls in place. And I made it!! With John Frieda´s luxurious volume mousse my waves stay in place for hours!

FEELIN´ RETRO

Una de las cosas que más me gusta de la ropa es la variedad de siluetas que se pueden generar a partir de la moldería de las prendas. En el caso de hoy, este es un look que por sus colores y cortes tiene un aire definitivamente retro... Algunas podrán pensar que es una silueta no muy favorecedora, pero desde mi perspectiva es increíblemente femenina y me encanta por ese motivo. Si vienen a mi blog con frecuencia, se habrán dado cuenta que me gustan mucho las prendas de tiro alto. Esta no es la excepción! 


Estoy muy contenta... dentro de poco vuelvo a Buenos Aires por unos días y me llena de emoción la idea de ver a mi familia y amigos!

One of the things i like most about clothes is the wide range of silhouettes that can be created depending on the patterns that they´re made of. In today´s case, this look has definitely got a certain retro vibe to it, most likely because of the colors and shapes of what i wore.... Some of you might think this silhouette might not be very flattering, but from my perspective it´s incredibly feminine and i love it for that! If you visit my blog frequently, you might have noticed that i really like high-waisted bottoms. Well this is not the exception! 

I´m very happy... I´ll be in Buenos Aires visiting for a few days and I´m very excited about seeing my family and friends!

ESTE NO ES UN POST DEL BAF

Si leés mi blog con frecuencia tal vez recuerdes que mencioné que mis días libres son los lunes. y sino, te estás enterando! Este lunes teníamos planes de ir a uno de los parques de Universal Studios, pero el clima pronosticado no era muy bueno... se avecinaba una tormenta. Asique, suspendidos los planes! 

A falta de un plan que nos exigiera un horario y organización, obviamente ocurrió lo contrario: NO HACER NADA. 

Por un momento pensé que no me iba a levantar más. Pero después recapacité y me acordé que el lunes es el único día que puedo salir a dar vueltas y hacer fotos lindas. La luz estaba yendose asique están algo movidas, sepan disculpar! :)

Por estos días, mis fellow-bloggers argentinas están como abejitas ocupadas cubriendo el BAFWEEK edición otoño-invierno 2012. Asistiendo a desfiles, compartiendo looks,  reviews y fotos. Debo admitir que me dieron muchas ganas de estar en Buenos Aires y poder hacer lo mismo. Pero bueno, todo no se puede! La próxima será... Aún queda el día de mañana para visitar el BAF. Si no pueden ir, entren en los blogs (en la barra de la derecha hay una lista con links de blogs argentinos) para ponerse al día! 

If you read my blog frequently, then you might remember me mentioning that Monday is my day off. And if this is not the case, well you´re acknowledging that now! This Monday we were planning to go to one of the amusement parks at Universal Studios, but the weather forecast wasn´t very promising … a storm was coming! So our plans were postponed.  

So without a plan that required a schedule and getting organized, the complete opposite occurred: doing nothing.

For a moment I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to get up. But then I thought about it and remembered that Monday is the only day of the week that I can go out and take nice pictures. The sun was going down, so these pictures are slightly blurry. Please forgive me!

These days, my Argentinean fellow bloggers are running around like busy bees covering the fall/winter 12´ edition of BAFWEEK (our local fashion week), attending runway shows, sharing outfits, reviews and pictures. I must admit that I really felt like being in Buenos Aires and do the same. But… you can´t get everything you want! Maybe next time i´ll be home… Tomorrow is the last day to visit BAF. SUIT UP! - Meetings & Interviews -

Hola hola!

En el día de hoy mi outfit es bastante plain jane pero viene con explicación y todo. Mi querídisima hermana de vez en cuando me pide ayuda para vestirse y hace poco me comentó que tenía una reunión importante y no sabía qué ponerse. Por ende se me ocurrió que sería una buena idea hacer un post alrededor de esta problemática, que seguro a más de una le pueda servir. La propuesta es un look muy clásico que puede funcionar para una reunión de trabajo, como también para una entrevista para conseguir uno.

Hay varios elementos a tener en cuenta, el primero y más importante es que queremos causar una buena impresión, pero desde un costado formal y profesional.

Algunos tips:

Una prenda de sastrería: como este saco de Zara le da estructura y formalidad al look. No es una prenda barata, pero vale la pena invertir en uno y aprender a reutilizarlo de diferentes formas.  

Pantalón: si elegís esto para la parte de abajo, recomendaría un color oscuro, como por ejemplo el azul, el negro, el marrón y el gris oscuro que son colores nobles. En cuanto a la forma o el modelo, elegiría algo sencillo y clásico (sin desgastados en la tela, cierres por todos lados, roturas, etc).

Vestido/ falda: totalmente permitido, pero ojo con el largo. Una falda muy corta puede quedar vulgar, asique considerá este detalle! También tené en cuenta que no sea ni escotado ni demasiado pegado al cuerpo.

Camisa: honestamente no tenía una camisa adecuada para este look (están en BsAs) asique usé una remera. Pero la verdad es que una linda camisa es una gran opción. Tanto lisas como estampadas dan un toque femenino y formal para una ocasión como esta.

Zapatos: si o si tienen que ser cerrados. Es muy informal mostrar los pies. Si hace mucho calor podés optar por unas chatitas que le dan al pie un poco de aire conservando la elegancia.

Make up: yo usaría una sombra suave (algún color pastel) en los ojos, un leve delineado y mascara de pestañas. Para los labios evitaría los colores shocking, pero podés utilizar el que más te guste.

Pelo: la verdad es que yo no soy ninguna experta, pero lo llevaría o suelto o atado prolijamente con una trenza o rodete.

Accesorios: pocos y bien administrados! El sobre que tengo en este post lo hice YO! Seguí un DIY que encontré en youtube y estoy feliz con como quedó… ni una sola costura! Todo pegado. Les dejo el link por si les interesa probar! CLICK ACÁ PARA IR AL VIDEO!

SO PROUD OF MY DIY ENVELOPE CLUTCH :)

Well, hello there!

Today´s outfit is pretty plain jane, but it comes with a cool explanation. Every once in a while, my beloved sister asks for my fashion advice and not too long ago she aksed me to help her come up with an outfit idea for an important meeting. Therefore I thought it would be a good idea to do a post about this subject, I’m sure it can be helpful for a few of you! The idea is t do a very classic look that can be worn for either a business meeting or to a job interview too.

 There are many things to consider, but the most important one is that you want to make a good impression, from a professional standpoint.

Here are a few tips:

A tailored piece: like this blazer from Zara. This adds structure and elegance to your look. It´s not a cheap garment, but it´s worth it to invest in at least one of these items and then you can learn how to pair it in different ways.  

Pants: if you chose to wear pants, i´d suggest you go for a dark color like blue, black, brown or dark grey. All of them are traditional and noble colors. As to the shape/style i would chose something classic and simple (no faded colors in the fabric, or zippers and holes everywhere, etc).  

Dress/skirt: these options are totally allowed! But be careful with the length. A very short skirt could look tacky, so keep this detail in mind! Also be careful with the cleavage and make sure it´s not too tight.

Shirt/blouse: to be completely honest, i didn´t have an appropriate shirt to wear with this look (they´re all at home in Buenos Aires!) so I wore a t-shirt. But the truth is that a nice shirt is a great option for this look. Either plain or printed they give a girly yet elegant feel.  

Zapatos: they have to be closed. Showing off your feet is very informal. If its very hot you can go for a pair of ballerina flats which will give your feet enough air while remaining classy.

Make up: I’d go for a soft eye shadow (neutral or pastel colors), some slight eyeliner and mascara. For the lips I’d avoid any bold colors, but you can use whichever you like best.

Hair: the truth is that I’m not an expert of hairstyling, but I’d leave it down or tied carefully as a braid or bun.

Accessories: just a few and thoughtfully placed! I made the envelope clutch i´m using for this post! I followed the steps of a very easy DIY I found on youtube and I’m very happy of how it turned out… not one single seam! All of it was super-glued!  Click here to watch that DIY!

Feliz/Happy 2012! maxi-sweater

Hola a todos! 

Estuve totalmente desaparecida las últimas semanas... mi trabajo me tuvo ocupadíiiiiiiiiiiisima, pero acá estoy de nuevo! Reportándome desde Orlando esta vez... y por unos meses, acá me quedo!

Antes que nada quiero desearles un muy feliz año nuevo! Por más que sea un día más y no se sienta distinto del anterior, nuestros calendarios cambian, nos renovamos psíquicamente y nos proponemos nuevos  desafíos. Podemos dejar atrás lo malo o lo que no nos gustó del año pasado y sentir que tenemos una nueva oportunidad para hacer del nuevo uno mejor. 

La mayoría de ustedes sabrá que en Estados Unidos la ropa es significativamente más accesible que en Argentina. Asique considerando semejantes abismos en la diferencia de precio, siempre que vengo a USA aprovecho para comprar cosas nuevas. Una tienda muy conocida, barata y llena de opciones es Forever 21. Mi Outfit del día tiene 2 prendas de esa marca: el maxi-sweater y los jeans (elastizados, obvio! Ya les conté que dejé de sufrir los jeans duros y apretados hace tiempo...).

Festejé el año en una fiesta en una calle del downtown de Orlando. Fue muy divertido! Vi muchas lentejuelas, terciopelo y animal print por la calle. Ustedes cómo lo pasaron? Alguna tendencia a destacar?

Hi everyone!

I´ve been completely gone for the past few weeks… my job kept me veeeeeeery busy, but here I am again! Reporting from Orlando this time… this is where I’ll be for the next few months!

Before saying anything else I wanted to wish you all a happy new year! Even if it´s just another day that´s gone by and it doesn´t feel any different from the previous one… our calendars change, we get mentally renewed and we challenge ourselves to achieve new goals. We can leave behind all the bad stuff and the things we didn´t like about the year and feel like we get a new opportunity to make the new one a better one.

I guess that most of you know that in the United States clothes are significantly cheaper than in Argentina. Considering these amazing price differences, each time I come to the US I usually take advantage of this to buy new things. Forever 21 is a very well known store. It´s cheap and it´s filled with options. For this outfit i´m wearing 2 items purchased at this store: the maxi-sweater and the jeans (stretchy, of course! I´ve mentioned already that i´ve left behind the days when I used to suffer from hard tight jeans).

I celebrated new year´s eve at a street party in downtown Orlando. It was a lot of fun! I saw lots of sequins, velvet and animal print on the streets. What did you do? Did you spot any cool trends?
