FEELIN´ RETRO

One of the things i like most about clothes is the wide range of silhouettes that can be created depending on the patterns that they´re made of. In today´s case, this look has definitely got a certain retro vibe to it, most likely because of the colors and shapes of what i wore.... Some of you might think this silhouette might not be very flattering, but from my perspective it´s incredibly feminine and i love it for that! If you visit my blog frequently, you might have noticed that i really like high-waisted bottoms. Well this is not the exception!
I´m very happy... I´ll be in Buenos Aires visiting for a few days and I´m very excited about seeing my family and friends!
Thanks for visiting my blog! :)

LIMA RELOADED!

Hola! Cómo los encuentra este jueves? Espero que muy bien! :)

Jannine

Hi everyone! How is this Thursday trating you? I hope very well!
Like I mentioned in this post, one of the trends that got to me lately is anything lime green. I bought this top a few months ago and I fell for it because its loose and very light, which is great for those hot days when you don´t feel like having clothes glued to your body. I paired it with this black skirt (also worn here) because it looks like it’s just one piece of clothing… and that illusion of a dress looked pretty cool! But of course I couldn´t just settle for 3 colors, so I added a little pop with some flashes of red and my leopard flats. DONE!

What do you think? Which colors have you been wearing most lately?

PS: I saw “Hugo” a few days ago and I loved it! Not only I loved the story, but I also think that the music, the scenery and the colors were spectacular… I highly recommend it!
PS 2: lately I’ve been listening Coldplay´s newest album, Mylo Xyloto, a LOT. I also wanted to recommend it! I think it’s very important to use headphones.

Have a WONDERFUL day!

HOT PINK + HOT RED

XO Jannine

Inspiration to get dressed can come in many ways. Sometimes we get inspired in the most obvious ways such as from seeing magazines, runway shows and lookbooks that the fashion industry offers us. Some other times the process is less direct… We might see a painting that has certain colors mixed in together in a way that we would have never thought of and a few days later we find ourselves re-mixing stuff from our wardrobe imitating those images that remained in our memory. Sometimes inspiration is in a landscape. Mother Nature always has the best ways to pair up colors perfectly and it doesn´t even try! I would have never imagined that the saying “nature is wise” would ever apply to something as vane as fashion. But it does, and that´s the way it is.
If you ever find yourself completely lost when choosing an outfit, now you know where to look!
Anyways, going back to the point… The inspiration for today´s outfit post came from a look I saw from Giambattista Valli´s fall 11´ collection. Valli is one of the highly influential designers responsible for the peplum´s comeback in fashion. This outfit was seen on editorial work, street style snap shots and also on the red carpet when actress Emma Stone wore it for the Friends With Benefits premiere. (see the nice collage I put together!)
But because the “real” women like us don´t have that much money to splurge on that outfit, we get inspired by it and apply it the way we can to our lives, and above all, in a way that applies to our wallet (and its limits! LOL).

What inspires you when it comes to getting dressed?

Qué tesoros descubriste vos por poca plata? Contame!!

The t-shirt I’m wearing today is made out of one of my favorite fabrics, a fabric that I tend to feel attracted to very often. The technique applied on the fabric to be this way is called Devoré. According to what I read about it, a paste is spread over the fabric and it “eats” certain parts of it following a random pattern. The result is an amazing texture.
This t-shirt belonged to my mom, but she gave it to me after realizing I borrowed it way too much (Thanks Mom!). I thought it was the perfect match to go with this green parka! But of course I had to add a little pop of color to the composition and I did it with this pretty striped blue dress.
Those of you who are fashion addicts –like me- might notice that my bag holds great resemblance to Celine´s Phantom… I was very happy to find a bag inspired on that model and even more to pay less than 20 bucks for it at Ross!! (the real ones cost around $3000). I´m glad they didn´t have it in any other colors because I would have certainly bought those too! Those of you coming to the USA (or living here) should definitely go to Ross and investigate a little bit; there are always hidden treasures there! :)

which treasures have you found for little money? Tell me all about it!

Today´s post title (flowers on my feet) reminds me of the song Flores en el Mar (flowers in the sea) by Jorge Drexler, one of my favorite artists. I can actually say that I was lucky enough to meet him. One of the many jobs that I’ve had so far in my not-so-long life was working at concerts doing different tasks: from selling official merchandise, to press accreditation and also dressing room + catering production assistant.
Twice I had the opportunity of being a part of the team that worked for Jorge´s concerts at Teatro Gran Rex (Buenos Aires). The first time was in May 2008 and the second one in September 2010. It was a great pleasure working for him and his band… We decorated his dressing room with nice sofas, lit some candles and incense, and left lots of different flavored tea bags and honey. Jorge is a simple person, he´s very nice and has a great sense of humor. He always talks to his audience in a very particular way, mixing shyness and charisma. I´ve liked his music for a long time now (I dare say like 10 years), the lyrics are just amazing, creative and heartfelt. To me, one of the most important things in music is finding an artist that can generate EMOTION… and I think Jorge nails it!
I can´t choose just one favorite album (he has so many!) but I do have a few songs that I like best.
I recommend: Al Otro Lado Del Río, Salvapantallas, Zamba del Olvido, 730 días, Dos Colores: Blanco y Negro, La Edad Del Cielo, Camino a la Paloma, Fusión, Transoceánica, 12 segundos de Oscuridad, Cara B, Noctiluca, Un País con el Nombre de un Río, Equipaje, Uno y Soledad.
Now, talking about today´s outfit: I fell in love with these floral & striped printed shoes. I pretty much dressed up like this so they could stand out. Do you like them?

Asistiendo a desfiles, compartiendo looks,  reviews y fotos.

If you read my blog frequently, then you might remember me mentioning that Monday is my day off. And if this is not the case, well you´re acknowledging that now! This Monday we were planning to go to one of the amusement parks at Universal Studios, but the weather forecast wasn´t very promising … a storm was coming! So our plans were postponed.
So without a plan that required a schedule and getting organized, the complete opposite occurred: doing nothing.
For a moment I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to get up. But then I thought about it and remembered that Monday is the only day of the week that I can go out and take nice pictures. The sun was going down, so these pictures are slightly blurry. Please forgive me!

These days, my Argentinean fellow bloggers are running around like busy bees covering the fall/winter 12´ edition of BAFWEEK (our local fashion week), attending runway shows, sharing outfits, reviews and pictures. I must admit that I really felt like being in Buenos Aires and do the same. But… you can´t get everything you want! Maybe next time i´ll be home… Tomorrow is the last day to visit BAF. If you can´t make it, you can access different blogs (find a list of Argentinean blogs on the side bar) and catch up!
